About a time when I tried something new.

    Life is full of new experiences since we are born. I have many experiences, but above all I would like to tell you about my experience of raising three baby turtles.

    When I lived in Hong Kong as an elementary school student, I wanted to have a pet. I love dogs, cats, and anything that is alive and furry. I don’t have any sibling, so I wanted a pet that I can give love instead. I told my dad I wanted to raise a pet that I could take care of. Luckily, my dad understood my loneliness and went out right away to buy me a pet. I was so excited. I wondered what my dad will bring. I expected something furry and warm that I can cuddle with. However, my dad came back with three baby turtles. I was shocked. I was dreaming of having a cute dog that would wave its tail at me and follow me anywhere I go. Sadly, I had these hard shelled creatures staring at me.

    From that day on, I decided to become the best mother for the turtles. I decorated their homes with little stones and large flat rock that they could rest there receiving some sunlight. They loved staying there. I was happy. However, it was a harsh time for me to wash them. I had to wash them with a toothbrush. The turtles didn’t like having a bath. They tried to bite the toothbrush and my finger as well. I wore rubber gloves to avoid hurting, but they bit me any way. Even though I wore the gloves, it was no use. It was so painful. After making them clean, I wanted to play with them. I made limitless stairs with my hands and my turtles walked on them. I loved their cold feet. They were cute.

    They followed me well, so it was kind of strange. I didn’t know that turtles actually follow their owner. What a good experience it was to raise them.
