Best Teacher in My Life

           Since I was a young child learning about tons of things, I've met so many teachers that I can’t even remember some of them. It’s a hard job pulling out someone from your old, fading memory. However, there is someone that I don’t have to put effort to pull out because she is the best teacher of my life. Her name is Yo Hwan Song and she was my teacher when I was in a 3rd grade of high school.

           She was my homeroom teacher. When I first saw her, she was so ice-cold that I could never imagine talking to her. She was considered a scary teacher because students never saw her smile. I thought that I would never get close to her. But I was capturing myself in a box. That was my prejudice. Because I had to be with her for quite a long time, she showed me another aspect of hers. She was like a little girl when she talked about God with me. She was so interested in me because at that time, I used to read the Bible in the class whenever I had time. That’s why she wanted to talk with me about God. I enjoyed talking with her, too.

           Whenever I get depressed by too much stress in studying, she called me to her office and gave me snacks with her sweet words: “You are doing well, so just keep it up.”

           Her heart-warming words helped me a lot. I liked spending my year with her.

           Time went by, and graduation day came. We both hugged each other trying not to cry. But she couldn’t stop tears falling from her eyes. It was same for me too. I miss her a lot, and I am planning to visit her sometime later.
